Crochet Care Guide: Handbags, Amigurumi, Wearables & More
Share
Every crochet piece has its own care needs. Use this guide to help your Frog & Stitch handbags, amigurumi, wearables, book covers, coasters, and other handmade pieces stay beautiful and keep their shape.
Handbags
Store crochet handbags flat or hang them carefully to help preserve their shape. Keep them in a dry place, away from direct sunlight, perfume, and water exposure.
To clean a handbag, spot clean the crocheted parts with mild soap and a small amount of water. Avoid soaking the bag. Air dry it completely away from direct sunlight, and never put it in a dryer. If your handbag has metal components, wipe them gently with a soft cloth.
Amigurumi
This category includes plushies, magnets, keychains, and other crocheted characters or small accessories. Spot clean them gently with mild soap and water when needed, then allow them to air dry away from the sun and dryer.
Do not pull or tug the yarn, limbs, details, or attached pieces. Store amigurumi in a dry place and keep them out of reach of pets and children.
Wearables
This category includes scarves, hats, and other pieces you wear. Keep wearables away from perfume and unnecessary water exposure. When cleaning is needed, spot clean gently with mild soap and water, then air dry away from direct sunlight and heat.
Store scarves and other soft pieces folded loosely or laid flat. Hats should be stored in a way that supports their shape. Do not pull or tug the yarn, and avoid the dryer.
Book Covers, Coasters & More
For crochet book covers, coasters, and similar pieces, store them flat when possible so they keep their shape. Keep them dry and away from direct sunlight when they are not being used.
Spot clean crocheted areas with mild soap and water. Do not soak the piece. Air dry completely away from the sun, and never use a dryer. If the item includes metal components, wipe them with a soft cloth.
